NASP Delegate Letter August 2014

August in Iowa!

The corn looks good, it is hot, and it is almost time to return to school (all levels). Here are some resources you might find helpful:

As we launch into the 2014–2015 school year, you will want to see NASP’s back-to-school resources available at www.nasponline.org/families/index.aspx#back.

The NASP Communities are a place for members to ask questions and share ideas. You can connect with your colleagues from across the country in the NASP Member Exchange, or participate in up to 28 Interest Groups organized around the topics that most affect your professional life. Get started today at http://communities.nasponline.org. If you would like additional assistance with getting set up or posting a message, please e-mail Lauren Blackwell at lblackwell@naspweb.org. She’ll be happy to help!

The new edition of Best Practices in School Psychology is here! The latest edition of this professional staple outlines the most current, relevant, and valued information necessary for competent delivery of school psychological services. The new edition features an expanded focus on multitiered, problem-solving, and evidence-based approaches, and is available at www.nasponline.org/publications/booksproducts/N1405.aspx. You can choose to purchase individual volumes or save by buying the four volume set. Plus, take advantage of special introductory pricing on the four volume set for a limited time.

PREPaRE has just been added to the Suicide Prevention Resource Center Best Practices website at http://www.sprc.org/bpr/section-III/prepare-school-crisis-prevention-and-intervention-training-curriculum-2nd-edition. This is another important national recognition that PREPaRE provides the framework and knowledge base for school crisis teams to prevent and respond to a range of crises, including suicide.
